My name is Yosniel Becker, I am the pastor of Calvary Chapel in Santiago de Cuba. I went to church for the first time in March 2010 and I went for the wrong reasons because I felt unhappy with the life I was living in the world. I really liked Guaracha style music and I had bad habits, it gave an appearance of happiness to all people around me but in reality I was unhappy. I was 18 years old and I had thoughts of suicide, I argued every day with my mother and my sister but in the midst of that chaos the Lord came and he saved me and although I went with the wrong motivations, God had already reached me and the Lord changed my life forever.
After two years in the faith, I married the one who is now my wife and we began to serve God in everything that was necessary, from cleaning the church to guarding the door on service days. We also worked with a children's ministry, until we felt the call of the Lord to pastor, we began teaching the word and we served in a small country church in Villa Clara in Isabela de Sagua, at the same time we knew and believed that God would take us to Santiago. It was then that we met Pastor Santiago Medina, a pastor of Calvary in Mérida and he told us about a vision where God showed him some lights and a name that was Santiago de Cuba. After that we began to pray that God will take us where he wants us to go. Fast Forward to about 5 or 6 years later Pastor San who is our representative contacted us again and here we are. Our experience has been that every situation and every place where God has taken us we are learning and growing in his word. Because of COVID-19, we started working here in Santiago de Cuba since November of last year and it has been a blessing for us and a learning curve as a said but in the midst of that we were approaching several families for two years.
My wife's name is Niovis she grew up in a Christian home. She suffered a lot from bullying at school but she always stood firm in her family's faith and at the age of 15 she really met God, and since then she has never turned away from the Lord.
